Today was one of those days where I had heaps of energy early in the day. I was extremely enthusiastic as the day started ready to work with any client that came my way without fear. As we all have experienced that energy can drain out after some time as we interact with others in stressful situations and find ourselves becoming drained of energy mentally and physically exhausted from our efforts. The day started on a high energy output then dipped to a low for the last half where I found myself struggling to want to interact with my clientele.

I work with sellers on an e-commerce platform taking their calls and seeking the solutions to their troubles. Their troubles at times can be surface level troubleshooting which can be fixed in a few words or clicks. Other times the conversations are heavy and involve the stress of money, time, and relationships between business and customer or partners. When people call in no matter how big or small their troubles might be I’m there to listen, empathize, and resolve what we can together.

It’s an interesting thing to listen to the stress and misunderstandings of others while trying to be of service to them and remain cheerful in challenging times they are experiencing. Working a customer facing job has taught me many things about the way that we communicate and how much energy effective communication actually takes day after day. We often times avoid communicating effectively due to the effort it takes and the patience it takes while speaking, listening, and continuing the process.

Today started out on a really positive high note for me and was dwindled down to a lower positive note at the end of the day because of all the emotion I absorbed throughout the day. I can’t complain though, it was a great day to have a good day.

I’ve been told many times that life is all about who you know more than what you know. Being able to use your connections to accomplish different tasks is key to finding success in much of life’s challenges. Think about all the people you know, they like you have different skills and interests that they utilize on a daily basis without much thought. Now think about yourself and inventory your assets or skills, you personally are probably skilled in 5 – 10 things well and those things might not always be the skills needed to accomplish the task.

Tonight truly reminded me why it’s so valuable to know and be friends with people with different skills than you. I have been building an e-commerce side hustle and I finally felt comfortable ordering some bulk product and seeing what I could do to move a larger volume of products. I needed some pictures taken that would encourage people to purchase these items and my iPhone photography skills wouldn’t do the job. I messaged one of my good friends and we set up a time to take quality photos to best move the product.

When I arrived I figured that we’d use my friend’s camera and just take some quality high-resolution pictures. He had lights’, a white backdrop, and the digital editing equipment and skills to make the pictures better than I had expected. I am truly grateful to know people who have skills that they can share to make my ambitions a reality without much work to them.

We can all think of times when our friend’s skill sets have helped us out when we needed a hand. We can also probably think of the times when we have done the same for others, showed up and helped out when needed with ease. We need to remember to integrate that into our natural motion every day, offering to lend a hand where we can and lift the world to a better place.

It’s all about who you know right?

What do you see when you look into your future? Happiness, adventure, mastering new skills, visiting new places, or financial success? Any of these sound great to me personally, some of them I see for myself and have a plan of action to reach them one day. No matter what aspirations you have to remember to keep your eyes on the prize and turn your thoughts into action.

I’ve been thinking about this heaps lately as I have started to ramp up my small business and start seeing the results I have envisioned for so long.  I’ve finally realized It requires more than just an idea and some skills that I rarely use. It’s required extreme focus as I’ve worked to create various listings including taking great photos that will attract the eye. It’s a challenge to keep believing that sales will come if I put in the work, and it has begun to happen.

Sales have started to trickle in little by little and reviews are making a difference for future sales. I am excited to start working harder towards my goal of having over 1,000 listings to sell online. It feels very rewarding seeing everything take shape and this is only the beginning of the marathon I hope to run in my various business ventures.

I’ve known what I wanted for some time, it’s just taken me many small steps to find my stride and get going in the right direction towards the goals I’ve envisioned myself reaching for. The steps before these have been prepping me for the steps ahead. I do not know what the future has in store as I set out but I expect there to be challenges and I welcome them to the race. Hope those challenges can keep up the pace or better yet stay in stride for a few steps then fall behind.

I know what I want and I have a vision, lets go!
